Mild Salsa

Mild Salsa

A fresh and flavorful salsa that's perfect for dipping or as a topping. This mild version is great for those who prefer a little less heat.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: About 4 cups

Ingredients & Supplies

  • 6 roma tomatoes
  • 1 white onion
  • 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 bunch of cilantro
  • 6-8 cloves of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Juice from 2 limes

Instructions

  1. Slice the tops of the jalapeno peppers off.
  2. Cut the onion in half, then cut each half in half again (creating quarters).
  3. In a large pan, heat the olive oil on medium heat. Add in the tomatoes, onion, jalapenos, and garlic. Cook for about 15 minutes, turning halfway through. (Let the ingredients get a nice char, but not burnt.)
  4. Remove from heat. Transfer to food processor. Add entire bunch of cilantro and lime juice. Blend until smooth.
  5. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to marry.
